MSUM College for Kids receives grant from Fargo-Moorhead Area Foundation

Minnesota State University Moorhead’s College for Kids received a grant from the Fargo-Moorhead Area Foundation for $3,100. The grant will be used for need-based scholarships to help cover the cost of classes for students. College for Kids will now be able to award 24 to 40 scholarships.

College for Kids is a summer day camp program for children ages 8 to 14. The classes offered encourage exploration, adventure and creativity while cultivating young people’s understanding and appreciation for a variety of topics. Session themes include various art topics and techniques, crafts, fitness and sports, nature, science and technology, and space exploration.

The purpose of the program is to introduce children to a campus environment, provide experiences that are intellectually enriching and expose them to future career options in the areas of science, fine arts, visual arts, and sports. The program runs July 9–12 and July 16–19, offering morning and afternoon classes.

The scholarships made available through the Fargo-Moorhead Area Foundation will provide opportunities to children to experience this enrichment program, which offers quality instruction with low student-to-teacher ratios and provides an opportunity to develop their potential.
