MSUM Tom McGrath Visiting Writers Series
Wednesday, Oct. 30 at 4:30 p.m. in the CMU Ballroom
Twin Cities poets, Sarah Fox and John Colburn, will visit MSUM tomorrow.
Fox is a multimedia and collaborative artist permanently situated in Minneapolis where, with Colburn, she co-enacts the Center for Visionary Poetics. Her books “Because Why” and “The First Flag” were both published by Coffee House Press.
Fox has taught poetics and literature at the University of Minnesota, the Perpich Center for Arts Education, the Loft, and other schools, literary centers, and community programs throughout Minnesota. Her poems, essays, and reviews have most recently appeared in Poetry City USA Vol. 2, Rain Taxi, Fence, Revolver, Conduit, and others. She was artist in residence at the American Craft Council Library in July and August of 2013, during which she produced “The Great Goddess is Everyone”—a public invocation performance, in collaboration with the sculptor Zoran Mojsilov and others.
Colburn is the editor and co-publisher at Spout Press, and the author of “Invisible Daughter” and “Psychedelic Norway” (Coffee House Press), as well as two poetry chapbooks, “Kissing” and “The Lawrence Welk Diaries.” He has taught at Hamline University and Perpich Center for Arts Education. He is also a member of the improvised music collective Astronaut Cooper’s Parade.
This event is free and open to the public.
